Samoa Too Strong for CPL PNG Lewas in Japan

The CPL PNG Lewas lost by 18 runs against the 2015 Pacific Games Gold Medalist Samoa, on Day 2 of the ICC T/20 EAP Qualifiers in Japan, on Saturday.

The Samoan Ladies secured 5 for 99 in their allotted 20 overs early in the first inning.

The Lewas started their chase well when they secured 30 runs in the first 6 overs.

Pauke Siaka and Konio Oala were quickly dismissed in two consecutive balls, leaving the Lewas in trouble at 3/30 after 6 overs.

Samoa’s steady progressive with its attacks on the PNG batting department quickly took its toll, as the remaining 7 wickets fell consecutively.

PNG bowed out of the 100 runs chase at the 18th over with only 83 runs.

The Lewas will face Vanuatu again tomorrow in an attempt to redeem themselves.
