The Lae Metropolitan Command has formed a new unit to provide police visibility and more manpower during the election.
The city is divided into zones, and officers in each unit will be responsible for maintaining law and order at their designated zones.
The new concept was initiated by the Lae Metropolitan Commander Chief Superintendent, Anthony Wagambie Jnr. following recent armed robberies in the city.
