PNG is six months away from co-hosting the Rugby League World Cup 2017 at the National Football Stadium.
According to the PNGRFL, preparations for both the Men’s and Women’s national teams are going well.
The Kumuls’ first match will be against the Cook Islands in May’s Pacific Test, and even though they will be without 5 players who were involved in the team’s victory over Fiji last year, they have enough equally-capable players to field.
PNGRFL Chairman, Sandis Tsaka, says the Local Organising committee is also getting prepared and have been meeting with the Rugby League World Cup committee.
The Women’s National Team have also started preparations after identifying a new coach. They will have lead up matches in preparations to the world cup.
The Australian Women’s National Team, the Jillaroos, will visit Papua New Guinea during the Prime Minister’s 13 weekend to play the Raggianas.
The Kumuls will play a few friendly matches as well before the World Cup.
