16-year-old Letisha Pukaikia Wins Bronze in U18 Division

In athletics, 16-year-old Letisha Pukaikia has made a name for herself recently in the New Zealand National Championship, where she won bronze in the U18 division, clocking in 25.85 seconds.

That performance was three quarters better than her previous personal best.

Pukaikia’s athletic talent was first identified in 2012, in Melbourne and since then, it has been nothing but continuous improved performances.

In 2013, the youngster made her presence known in PNG during the Athletics PNG’s Talent ID camp, where she was impressive also in the long jump event.

President Tony Green has confirmed her participation in the Commonwealth Youth games in the Bahamas, come July.

For now, the next step is to get Pukaikia to Fiji for the Oceania U18 Championships, as part of her preparation, on the road to Bahamas.
