Emergency Landing: PM & 4 Ministers On Board
Hambuke Primary School in Yangoru Saussia District in East Sepik Province was given a surprise visit by Prime Minister, Peter OโNeill, and four other senior ministers on Wednesday morning.
The visit was unplanned due to a technical problem on a chartered helicopter, which caused the pilot to do an emergency landing at the school.

Accompanying Mr OโNeill was local member Richard Maru, Higher Education Minister, Delilah Gore, Youth Religion and Community Development Minister, Loujaya Kouza, and Works Minister, Francis Awesa.

Approximately, after 25 minutes in the air, technical failure in the engines caused the helicopter to swing to the left. This caused the pilot to make an emergency landing at the Hambuke school field for safety reasons.

Staff, students and villages were surprised as Prime Minister, Peter OโNeill stepped out with the four ministers and other officers.The landing was not comfortable however no one received injuries as they exited the helicopter.

Meanwhile individuals in Wewak have raised concern on the safety regulations of the company. The pilot refused to comment however will be making an official statement of the incident to the Prime Ministerโs Department.

While awaiting, Prime Minister, Peter OโNeill committed K300, 000 to the school and reinstated his Governmentโs plan in rolling out education as a key priority area. A second helicopter owned by Helifix was called to transport Mr OโNeill and the delegation to Yangoru Station.
