The PNG men’s national football team has returned to camp in Port Moresby, in preparation for stage three of their world cup qualifying campaign.
Featuring eight new faces, including the return of Madang FC captain Samuel Kini, the squad is raring to go, ahead of the crucial match against Tahiti in March.
Since the last camp held in early November, Serritslev has used the opportunity to introduce a number of young talents, as he hopes to build a squad prepared to meet the Pacific’s best, as well as set the foundation for future PNG national teams.
Among the new faces are goal keeper Kolu Kepo, Emmanuel Airem and Australian based players Brad McDonald and George Slefendorfas.
The dane expressed disappointment at the unavailability of key members of the squad, with Hekari United not having released their own players, ahead of their OFC Champions League roster.
Serritslev’s concerns appear justified, in May 2016, he guided Papua New Guinea to its first ever Nations cup final, after a stellar victory over arch Melanesian rivals the Solomon Islands, and the core of that side, are not in camp at present.
Serritslev however has maintained a positive outlook and claims that the side will face their qualifiers as best prepared as possible.
Papua New Guinea have been pooled against the Solomon Islands and Tahiti, with their first match against the Tahitians on March 23.
The training camp ends on Sunday.
