Western Province Needs a Provincial Administrator

Concerns have been raised on the delay to appoint a Provincial Administrator for Western Province.

A concerned local Edmond Goami, told EMTV News that Western Province immediately needs a provincial administrator, to manage the affairs of the public service system.

“The lack of administrative leadership has caused instability in the public service,”

The appointment of the former acting administrator lapsed in December last year, which allowed for the new acting appointment.

Instruments of the appointment were signed by the Public Service Minister Sir Puka Temu.

“We need the public service to run efficiently and effectively,” he said.

Paiyo Bale, a businessman of Western Province, believes he has contributed so much to the country’s economic development yet little has been done to fix the chronic problems.

“We are now calling on John Kali, the Secretary of Personnel Management to intervene and speed up the process to allow normalcy in the public service,” he said.

EMTV News was unable to get comments from Mr Kali relating to this matter.

On related news, public servants of New Ireland Province have also petitioned their acting provincial administrator to address outstanding work related issues and concerns that have crippled service delivery in the province.
