Two suspects involved in the November 3, K1.2 million Tropic Air heist at the Jackson’s Airport have been arrested by Rabaul Police yesterday.
Alphonse Lance Moha, age 36, of Siassi in Morobe and Manus, one of the prime suspects in the November robbery, was sighted on a PMV at Pilapila on the outskirts of Rabaul town.
Police intercepted and arrested him.
He then led the police to Kabakada village along the North Coast area of East New Britain where the second suspect, Dermot Vakinap, age 29, of East Sepik Province was also arrested.
Police believe Dermot Vakinap, was an accomplice in the last month’s heist.
Both men have been detained at the Kokopo police cell.
East New Britain Provincial Police Commander, Senior Inspector Joe Tabali has confirmed their arrests today.
PPC Tabali says he is liaising with the Port Moresby police for the two suspects to be flown back to Port Moresby to be formally arrested and charged.
PPC Tabali says investigations are continuing to establish how the two suspects were able to make it to East New Britain unnoticed.
