60 CASUALTIES REPORTED

Following the chaos in the Nation’s Capital, Port Moresby General Hospital has reported a total of 60 causalities, from 4pm to 12pm yesterday.

According to Director of Medical Services at POMGEN, Dr. Kone Sobi, there is a possibility of more causalities coming in.

“From the 60 causalities, 55 were male ranging from age 20-45, 9 were pronounced dead, all male, 30 are suffering from gun wounds while 10 have sustained bush knife wounds to limbs and abdominal chest. And 10 have undergone major surgeries, from 6pm yesterday to 1am this morning. Other minor injuries include burns and limb fractures.”

Dr. Sobi said all medical teams of POMGEN were on alert as of yesterday to asses’ casualties coming in.

Despite all service providers shutting down due the 10th January city unrest, Doctors of Port Moresby General Hospital have turned up for their morning shifts.

However, Dr. Kone Sobi, Director of Medical Services POMGEN said the hospital is now looking in to providing emergency escort transportation for its employees.
