The 11th Westpac Outstanding Women’s Award was held last night in Port Moresby recognising 7 Papua New Guinean women for their outstanding contributions in various sectors.
The awards consisted of;
- a private sector award and
- a public sector award
- a not for profit award
- an entrepreneur award
- a young achievers award
- a community award and
- a sporting award
Apart from Westpac, these awards have been sponsored by Steamships, Pricewaterhouse Coopers, Moore Printing, Trukai, Precinct, IBBM and SP Brewery.
Westpac Managing Director, Adrian Hughes, said investing in Women brings out positive outcomes and research has shown that women are good managers in various areas.
Out of the 7 category winners, an overall winner was selected. Ruth Kissam, the Director for PNG Tribal Foundation, was the overall winner of the 2018 Westpac Outstanding Woman Award for her outstanding work in the area of sorcery accusation related violence.
