Yall-Usino Road: Possible National Highway

The people of Yall in the Transgogol area of Madang will be the beneficiaries of the new proposed national highway between Lae and Madang.

A ground breaking ceremony was held recently by Madang Governor, Jim Kas, and Usino Bundi MP, Anthon Yagama.

The new highway is envisioned to bring tangible services for the locals.

During the groundbreaking, Madang Governor, Jim Kas, called on the Yall people to be involved in the road project and make use of the opportunity.

He also warned them against selling their land as the road development will attract people to squat along the highway. Mr Kas committed K3 million upfront for work to begin.

Usino Bundi MP, Anthon Yagama, said this new road network will see the locals use proper road and replace the current deteriorating state of the highway. “This is an opportunity for you locals to take advantage of, and allow development to bring more services”, Mr Yagama added.

The road is planned to be 4 lanes. Was Matau and Swamp Construction are the 2 companies engaged in the first phase of the road project.
