Western Forum paves way for development partners

Four authorities will be established by the Western Provincial Government to support and improve its level of development.

Western Governor, Taboi Awi Yoto, says this will see a shift in how different government levels and development partners think and cooperate in achieving desired service delivery goals. The priorities are education, health, transport and income growth.

Speaking after the closure of the Western Forum in Kiunga, Western Governor, Taboi Awi Yoto, says the forum is the first step in getting all development partners to know their role and their purpose for the people of Western. Governor Yoto says the forum has established agendas and the focus of levels of Government. The governor added the 4 pillars identified will see authorities established.

North Fly MP, James Donald, believes the forum will create a path for all stakeholders. The four political leaders of the province believe working together is the way forward for the Western people.

Participants of the forum signed a document to work together and see tangible development in communities in the province. Both current and new development partners including different government agencies and departments attended the three-day meeting.
