WAU WARIA ROAD WORKS

In regards to the connect PNG Program, Member elected for the Wau Waria District Marsh Narewec seek clarifications in Parliament on the rehabilitation work that is underway along the Wau Bulolo Highway.

Before asking his question Mr Narewec said, the Wau Bulolo highway has been serving the people of the district for the last seventy years.

It has been there pre-independence and it is still serving the people of the district to date.

The launching of the rehabilitation work was officiated by Prime Minister James Marape and the Former Bulolo MP Late Sam Basil in June of 2021.

He asked the Minister for Works and Highway as to why the rehabilitation work for the highway stops at Bulolo and does not extend to the Wau Waria District.

In response, Minister Mirisim assured the people of Wau Waria that the rehabilitation works are ongoing and will continue this year.

Minister Mirisim responded saying, “we will continue to extend the road this year, due to some delays the road work has not been completed. However, we will continue the extension from Bulolo to Wau.”

According to Minister Mirisim, a new contractor will be engaged to assist the two existing contractors to complete the road.

He added,” this year under the connect PNG program, I want to assure the member and the people of Wau Waria that the project will start at Bulolo and end in Wau.”
