A day before nominations open for the 2019 LLG Elections, Kairuku Hiri District in Central Province launched a new Local Level Government.
Yesterday, April 24, Opposition leader, Patrick Pruaitch, declared Vanapa Brown Rural LLG in the Hiri District. Speaking to the people, Pruaitch urged the new LLG to work together with the District and Provincial level. “I urge the new President to work with all levels of Government, this will see services reach remote areas”, said Pruaitch.
Kairuku Hiri MP, Peter Isoaimo, says the split will not only help in improving service delivery but a mouthpiece for the Vanapa Brown communities.
This is the second Local Level Government established within 1 year by the Kairuku Hiri District. Last month, the Department of Provincial Affairs and Local Level Government approved Kuni Local Level Government for Kairuku Hiri District in Central Province. For the local MP Peter Isoaimo, service delivery will be achieved if levels of Government work together, and with the LLG Elections around the corner, people of Vanapa Brown will soon vote for the first president to take office. The success of the launch of the new LLG follows close consultation between Kairuku Hiri District, and Inter Department of Provincial Affairs and Local Level Government among others.
Previously, Vanapa Brown Communities were represented by the Hiri LLG.
