University of Goroka will host one of the biggest conferences on Pure and Applied Mathematics in December.
This is the first of its kind for the University to host an international event where experts in mathematics and top mathematicians from overseas will come to present their papers.
Organizers say the conference is timely and will improve the standard of Mathematics in the country.
The conference on Pure and Applied Mathematics is jointly organized by the Division of Mathematics & Computing, School of Science, University Of Goroka and PNG Mathematics Society.
It is further supported by the American Mathematical Society and the African Mathematical Union.
President of PNG Mathematics Society and Chief Organizer of the Conference, Dr. Samuel Kopamu, said there will be so much to gain from the gathering.
Organizers say top Mathematicians from all over the world will present their papers on the theme “Contemporary Developments in Mathematical Sciences as Tools for Scientific and Technological Transformation of Papua New Guinea.”
On a local front, the conference is also an eye-opener for educators to improve the level of Mathematics in the country.
The conference on Pure and Applied Mathematics will be held from the 1st-5th of December at the UOG campus.
