Port Moresby Bisini diamonds hosted an anticipated Port Moresby Softball League’s Men’s Grand Finals.
The showdown in the Men’s A-Grade between Gazelle and United Brother’s, saw United Brothers snatch the title 5-1 from favourites Gazelle in a tight game.
By the end of the third innings, neither side had managed to bring home runs, as both batters and fielders were on their feet.
In a turnaround of events in the 5th innings, United Brothers capitalised on sloppy fielding by Gazelle and brought home 4 runs.
United Brothers after making 2 consecutive appearances in the last 2 years, take out this season’s minor premiership and this year’s Port Moresby Softball League Men’s title.
And in the B-grade Men’s finals, Brown Eagles filch the title in a nail bitting match against Defence 12-6.
This year’s finals saw Stingerz hold their reign in the Women’s A and B grade, and Brown Eagles and United Brothers as Men’s Champions in the B and A grade respectively.
This concludes the season 2013-2014. The Softball Fraternity around the country will now look forward to the club championships to be hosted in Kokopo this month.
