Two Police Officers Yet To Be Charged

Two police officers in NCD implicated for illegally using and damaging an impounded vehicle are yet to be charged.

More than 2 weeks after the incident and attempts by the owner of the vehicle to get these officers charged, nothing has been done.

Owner of the vehicle, Steven Punagi, told EMTV today that it has been frustrating for him trying to ensure that those responsible, face the consequence of their actions.

Mr.Punagi said he won’t remove this damaged vehicle from Gordons Police station until those implicated are formally charged.

Mr. Punagi was charged last month for a different matter, and released on three thousand kina bail, however, his vehicle was impounded by police at Gordons Police Station.

Two weeks ago, two police officers illegally used the vehicle and got involved in an accident resulting in the vehicle being badly damaged.

The owner now wants those involved charged, however, this process is dragging on for two weeks, says Mr Punagi.

It is understood acting NCD Metropolitan Superintendent, Perou N’Dranou, has received a report, and is aware of this issue.
