All contractors in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville will comply by guidelines, set by the Project Management Unit.
Chairman Lesly Tseraha says these guidelines will ensure that all projects are completed on time, and are accountable for.
The National Government has renewed its commitment to help improve infrastructures, and restore services in Bougainville.
For this reason, the Autonomous Bougainville Government has created the Project Management Unit, to oversee its implementation.
These projects will be implemented under the Special Intervention Funds, of 200 million kina; as revealed by Tseraha.
It will require a collaborative effort for its successful outcome.
ABG’s Technical Services Division, Chief Executive Officer Bernard Tzilu says: “For so long, Bougainvilleans have suffered, as most projects like the Buka ring road, were incomplete.”
The failure was a direct result of tender of contracts, to those companies that were under resourced. A trend, that will likely change.
Tzilu further explained local contractors will be engaged as sub contracts, but will go through proper screening before approval.
