Trade Exhibitors Use Opportunity to Showcase Their Companies

Running alongside the Mining & Petroleum Investment Conference is a three-day Trade Exhibition.

While exhibitors from the resource industry use this as an opportunity to showcase their companies; there are other exhibitors promoting transparency in the industry as well as shining the spotlight on the work of landowners.

There are about 50 exhibitors at the Trade Exhibition at the Mining and Petroleum Investment Conference.

One unique stall belongs to the PNG Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative or EITI.

EITI Head of Secretariat Lukas Alkan, said the EITI is promoting openness and transparency especially when it comes to revenue being generated, from the Mining and Petroleum sectors.

Another unique exhibitor is the Mineral Resources Development Company or MRDC.

General Manager External Affairs & Sustainable Development Imbi Tagune, said MRDC’s display is about showing development partners in the resources sector and what is being done for landowners, in terms of sustainable growth for the future.

He said the important message was that when the oil, gas and minerals run out, landowners and Papua New Guinea as a whole, will have the capacity to sustain itself into the future.
