TEMU ON GOVERNMENT ARMS

Member for Abau District in Central Province, Sir Puka Temu has called on the Parliament house to relook at the three arms of power, the Judicial, Executive and the Legislative.

Sir Puka Temu was asking the Deputy Speaker and the Speaker of Parliament under their powers to relook at the arrangements of this as well as the Parliamentary Committee.

Sir Temu said most often it is the executive or the government who interferes with the legislators or the members of parliament as well as the judiciary which is the court systems of the country which is unconstitutional.

Sir Puka Temu also outlined the importance of the Parliamentary Committee.

He said the Parliamentary Committee should be made up of both the government and opposition side of Parliament and not just government where there will be lack of balance in making decisions that concerns people.

Sir Puka urged the speaker to be the one to appoint parliamentary committees and not the government.

 He further said that, the Parliamentary Budget should never be interfered with by the Executive arm of the government.
