Teachers from the Kerema Secondary School have been facing accommodation issues in the school.
Many of the existing houses are run-down and the limited number cannot accommodate all the teachers, resulting in teachers having to live outside the school campus, and travelling in for their duties.
The teachers houses were in a deteriorated state, with a limited to none water supply into the teachers homes.
The renovated library was used to accommodate some teachers, while others continue to live in the run-down houses.
Junior teachers are currently accommodated in the principal’s house, while she is living at the female dormitory.
Kerema Division of Education Director, Joshua Aivei, says staff housing is one issue that should be taken care immediately.
