Southern Region 9s Heats Up

The Southern Region 9s heads into the finals tomorrow at Port Moresby’s Oil Search National Football Stadium.

The Quarter finals was played today by 16 teams respectively in the Cup division and Plate divisions.

Last Year’s winners Lako (Kagaroo colours) from Central province progress to the Cup preliminary finals after a nail biting finish against KS Trans Drifters which ended in a one point finish, 7 – 6.

Others also in the Preliminary finals include PNG Hunter’s Blend Abavu’s beloved Erima Laumas, Benpro Rebels and Siporo Magpies.

In the Plate preliminary finals, North Dingos play South Side Eels while Koitabu Cowboys take on Baruni.

The five day tournament started on Sunday and ends tomorrow.

A total of 76 teams took part this year in a tournament that’s attracted thousands of rugby league fanatics from the region.
