The controller of the state of emergency in Port Moresby Donald Yamasombi has officially released the 14-day state of emergency security measures for immediate implementation.
Under the SOE security measures, the office of the controller has discouraged public gathering of people at the vicinity of a shop with the intention of stealing or breaking into the shops or warehouse and government installations.
Any person or group of people that does not comply with the directions given shall be deemed to have committed an offence under criminal code and NCDC municipal act.
Stop, search, and seizure on roadblocks or on a vessel at sea or a rub down search on person or a search of a person upon reasonable suspicion of a person’s intention to carry out an offence under this security measure of any act is being implemented and effective.
The sale of alcohol at any unlicensed liquor outlets is prohibited. Any person found to be consuming any form of alcohol in a moving vehicle or in a public place or unlicensed alcohol outlet would be searched upon reasonable suspicion.
Alcohol must be consumed in a night club, hotels or similar establishments which are licensed between the hours of 10am to 10pm only.
Prices of goods and services from the service providers will maintain fair prices for all their services and products.
Adding that, there won’t be any curfew as the situation is calm and normalcy is about to be restored.
