Social Issues Awareness

Individuals, the public and private sector must take ownership, of raising more awareness on social issues, affecting communities.

This message came from Amelis Barka, a grade ten student at Caritas Technical Secondary School.

She was raising awareness on social issues, at the schools, nineteenth Foundation Day today.

Caritas Technical Secondary School, in the Nation’s Capital, today commemorated its nineteenth Foundation and Open Day, since established in 1995.

It’s one of the Church run schools that have been giving a second chance, providing education to young girls, that the PNG education system can’t cater for.

At the exhibition, students showcased the knowledge and skills, acquired, from information communication technology, fashion design, and cosmetics.

The social awareness section was worth learning, as student’s advocated on issues like violence against women, men and children.

Grade ten student Amelis Barka says, individuals and communities must take ownership, to advocate on these issues.

It was colorful and delicious at the cooking section, with displays of different cooking methods and food dressing.

The Caritas Directress said courses offered are lifelong skills, both theory and practical.

The Caritas Founders were thanked for establishing the school that has provided education opportunities for young people.
