A police post in rural Sinasina-Yongomugl District, Simbu Province, will now be able to carry out its functions effectively.
The rural post received a vehicle recently from the Sinasina-Yongomugl District Authority.
Simbu Acting Provincial Police Commander, Lawrence Israel, says the vehicle will be helpful in logistics support for the rural post and province as a whole.
The presentation of the vehicle will see police in Kamtai extend their work and enforce law and order operations in the Sinasina-Yongomugl District District, and along the Highlands highway.
Kamtai Police have worked over the years despite little support from the District and the Police Department, however Local MP, Kerenga Kua, says maintaining law and order is a priority for the District.
“I believe the vehicle will make a lot of difference for the Kamtai Police to carryout their duties and maintain law and order in the District,” said MP Kua.
Christened “Thunder 2”, the vehicle is the second purchased under the District Development Authority funding of K150,000.
The presentation was witnessed by Kamtai Police, Sinasina-Yongomugl District officers and invited members of the public.
