Rosso Formally Sworn In as Deputy PM

Deputy Prime Minister John Rosso was formally sworn in yesterday

Prime Minister James Marape said it was fitting for the first time member of Parliament to assume the office left vacant by late Sam Basil.

The coalition government gathered at the State house for the formalities.

The role of Deputy Prime minister, once again remain in the hands of another Morobean, Minister for Lands and Physical Planning and Member for Lae John Rosso.

The acting governor General Sir Gibbs Salika was there to sign the official documents.

Prime Minister James Marape gave his coalition blessing and congratulated Rosso.

“We look forward in working with you at these weeks to ensure we stabilize the ship, especially our nation prepares for election”. James Marape said.

The Deputy Prime Minister was so humbled by the gesture, pledging to provide oversight in the remaining weeks.

“On behalf of my family and the people of Lae, I would like to say thank you to the Honorable Prime Minister for restoring us the people of Morobe with this second highest post. I promise to do all I kind to fulfill your believe” Rosso said. Komo- Magarima MP, Manasseh Makiba was also made minister, taking over the late Sam Basil’s portfolio as Minister for Transport and Infrastructure
