For the last 20 years, the Simbomie road has been ignored by past MPs of Yangoru-Saussia. However, today it stands as an important link between East Yangoru and the Sepik Plain proposed Oil Palm Project.
Yesterday, local MP and Minister for Commerce, Trade and Industry Richard Maru, presented a cheque of K490, 000 to the Department of Works to start construction on the road. Minister Maru said the road is important for the people of Yangoru-Saussia as it will pave way for development.
East Sepik Provincial Works Manager, Benjamin Haiken said the Works Department is committed to deliver its services and the road construction will start in three weeks time.
The Simbomie road is one of the many road projects in the Yangoru-Saussia Highway which are currently under construction.
The road will now link Sengiri, Javari and Hoie villages of the East Yangoru LLG to the vast grassland of the Sepik Plains.
