Deputy Prime Minister John Rosso has thanked the Minister for Works and Highways and Telefomin member Solan Mirisim and his people for road delivery in the district.
He said the Marape-Rosso government has committed K1.2 billion to support Connect PNG Program to link rural villages in the country by road services.
Speaking at the official launching of Tabubil-Telefomin-Oksapmin road at the Urapmin village last Friday, Rosso said that road brings service that would help people in rural villages to access better health, education, business activities and others.
“Thankyou all contractors for the job well done, Western leaders and Ok Tedi Mine through Tax Credit Scheme under the current government for delivering the road to our people.” he said.
He has encouraged the people to take ownership of the road by allowing contractors to continue the road work and respect for vehicles and machinery working in their villages adding road work will continue to reach Telefomin and onto Oksapmin Local Level Government.
Meanwhile, Hela Governor Philip Undialu who also officiated at the event appreciated all who have worked together to construct the road.
He said Telefomin will be the central location to link PNG, therefore has pledged to support the road work to continue onto Oksapmin LLG in West Sepik Province and into Kopiago in Hela Province that will gradually link Highlands, Momase and Southern regions in very near future.
Governor Undialu has also committed K200,000 to Urapmin Primary School to construct its double classroom for students to be taught in conducive learning environment.
He has urged the people of Telefomin to must continue to work with their leaders and take care of services provided to them for improved living.
