More than K20, 000 has been raised so far for the Kato Ottio Trust Fund account. The appeal started on the 12th of January, and will be closed on Friday the 16th of February.
The account was opened for donations at the Public Funeral in Port Moresby on the 12th of January. As of last week Friday, K20,225.24 has been deposited in the account by individuals.
The contributions ranged from K5 to K100.
The Trust fund was set up to help raise money to fulfil Ottio’s dream of building his mother a house.
The total amount will be revealed, and a cheque will be presented to Ottio’s family during the half time break of the Hunters pre-season trial match against the Brisbane Broncos, next weekend.
Buckets will be placed at the gates for individuals who wish to donate on game day. This will be counted during the 1st half of the trial match, and will also be disclosed at half time.
The PNGRFL thanked all who have contributed to support Ottio’s family.
The Widnes Vikings and Canberra Raiders rugby league clubs have also done similar appeals, and have raised money for late Kato’s family.
