Psychiatric Care During COVID

The Directorate for Social Change and Mental Health Services and the PNG Mental Health Fraternity are overcoming COVID challenges as they continue to bring psychiatric care.

With the help of many partners including the PNGDF, they have set up tents within the Ward 6 fencing at the Port Moresby General Hospital.

Directorate Acting Director, Dr. Uma Ambi says it’s all about serving the people during this pandemic and it’s quite challenging.

The tents are set up to ensure that COVID measures are implemented as patients come to get their medication.

And also patients will be at peace knowing that they are receiving quality psychiatric care during this time.

Under the National Mental Health Policy the health services are free of charge.
