Prime Minister, Peter O’Neill, has welcomed the commitment by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) to provide finance for addressing the effects of climate change in Papua New Guinea.
PM O’Neill met with the Green Climate Fund Chairman, Ewen McDonald, this week.
The Prime Minister highlighted the need for finance and capacity building to enable PNG to implement its obligations under the Paris Climate Change Agreement.
O’Neill said Papua New Guineans know what they need in their communities to deal with the damage brought about by extreme weather.
He said through the Green Climate Fund process, PNG have the opportunity to identify and develop these projects.
