POWER WOES

By Bradley Mariori

Lae MP and Deputy Prime Minister John Rosso has apologized to the people of Lae for the countless blackouts they are facing in the city.

He said he is currently liaising with the minister responsible Hon. William Duma to try ensuring they fix this ongoing problem which affects everyone.

Rosso said it has been an ongoing problem for many years and he is equally frustrated as everyone are and rightfully should be.

He said Minister Duma has assured him of his commitment to fixing the power woes in long term but also looking at solutions for the short term including working closely with our bilateral partners.

“There is work going on for a solar farm to be constructed at Yalu to help alleviate the power problem and work is being carried out on Yonki Dam and upgrading main lines into Lae by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA),”Rosso said.

He said there are few more power sources being worked on and he will continue pushing in his capacity to get this situation fixed.
