POMCCI Condemns Strike Action by Eda Ranu Workers

The Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce & Industry (POMCCI) has condemned the sudden strike action that has been taken by Eda Ranu workers in the city.

Chamber President, Rio Fiocco, said putting aside the issues and grievances that Eda Ranu workers have on the proposed merger with Water PNG, the action will disrupt an essential service.

He called on lawmaking agencies to hold those accountable for willfully denying essential services to the general public.

He stressed that legislation have been in place for several years to protect “essential services” and water is one of those essential services.
