The Port Moresby Soccer Association had its long-awaited opening matches to the 2014 Soccer season at Bisini Soccer Ground.
There were a number of forfeits that had started off the day however the main men’s Super League brought interesting results
Newly promoted, Golo FC, took an early two goal lead against a strong and experienced McClaren team featuring seasoned players with the debutants testing their rivals on more than one occasion.
In the other super League match Cosmos shook off preseason cobwebs to equalise against a strong University side. University had struck early in the first half and were most likely hoping to begin scoring more before Cosmos struck back, barely a minute later to even the score out. University however, showing a lot more intensity, began to outpace their opponents and created a lot more in chances.
A rejuvenated Guria who thrashed a hapless McClaren 5 – 0, in the only women’s match played in the afternoon.
