Police Say No To Public Forum

POLICE in the nation’s capital have cancelled a public forum planned for this weekend in Port Moresby by Non-Governmental Organisation activist, Noel Anjo.

NCD Central Superintendent for Operations, Perou N’dranou advised the public in Port Moresby not to participate in any public forum and gatherings this weekend.

He said from their observations of the last forum, they have made a decision not to allow the planned forum to continue for two reasons.

Superintendent N’dranou issued a message to members of the public who might think that the assembly was still going ahead, to be advised that police had not given permission for it to be held.

“Unfortunately it’s not authorized, so we are not allowing it. So to all intending participants who want to come and take part.

“It is defamatory, and what has transpired previously, could point to more defamatory actions by leaders of the forum,” he said.

The planned forum was intended to ask the government to abandon the UBS loan deal.
