Over 20 police men from the Special Services Division or Mobile Squad have completed the Close Personal Protection Training.
They are the first officers from mobile squads, based outside of Port Moresby to undergo the CPP Training.
These officers will provide close protection for the 21 World Leaders during the APEC Summit in November.
The Officers were presented their certificates of participation yesterday in the presence of their Director and the Deputy Police Commissioner, operations.
The training is similar to what female officers have undergone three weeks ago.
They will be the closest security personnel to some of the leaders of the world’s most powerful economies, and the training prepares them for this.
Another 31 mobile squad members also graduated from the Public Order Management Training.
This is the fourth batch and they are taught on how to control riots in a public area.
Both trainings are conducted with the support of the Australian Federal Police in preparations for APEC Security.
