In keeping with Christmas Spirit, PNG Ports Corporation, has given timely support to the country’s largest referral hospital, Port Moresby General Hospital.

PNG Ports Chairman, Nathaniel Poya, presented a funding of close to K150, 000 for the purchase of an Ultrasound Scanner.

Mr Poya said lives have been lost and people continue to suffer from health problems that can be treated when given proper medical attention.

He said a shortage of medical professionals, aging facilities and lack of equipment are just some of the issues that continue to plague government run health facilities.

This donation by PNG Ports came about as a result of a personal experience of Mr Poya.

Dr. Bobby Wellsh from the Port Moresby General Hospital said the new scanner will be of great assistance, especially to very ill patients.

Dr. Leslie Kawa, thanked PNG Ports for this very timely assistance to the Hospital.

Dr. Kawa said the Ultrasound Scanner will be purchased from the Hospital’s usual supplier, Meddent Limited, and it is expected to arrive in a month’s time.
