The PNG LNG Kumuls have qualified for the Rugby League World cup Quarter-finals after edging out Ireland, 14 points to 6.
Ireland was the first to post points but their lead was short lived after Gary Lo’s individual efforts put the home team on the board.
An unsuccessful conversion saw the scores at 6-4.
15 minutes later, Kumuls Nene Mcdonald crossed over in the corner to further their lead.
The scores remained at 8-4 after a failed conversion kick.
As both teams struggled to score in the second half of the game, the winning try came 2 minutes from full time after Kumuls’ half back Watson Boas picked up a loose ball from after an Irish mistake to score under the posts sealing their victory and earning a spot in the quarterfinals.
