PNG Barramundis Draw with Scotland in Round 6 of the Inter-Continental Cup Fixture

The round 6 of the Inter-Continental Cup fixture between the PNG Barramundis and Scotland came to a draw on Day 4 yesterday.

The fixture that started on Sunday saw exceptional batsmanship from the Barras with the likes of Vani Vagi Morea and Sese Bau but was not enough to improve their standing.

The Barras’ second inning in the final day yesterday ended with 3/262 in their reply to Scotland’s first inning of 541.

Trailing by 110 runs from their first inning, the Barras fought back well but fell short of leveling the field of play.

In fact, they got off on a shaky when top order batsman Vani Vagi Morea got dismissed too early on just 13 runs in the 5th over.

A Tony Ura-Lega Siaka partnership brought in a brilliant accumulative of 158 runs, which included a total of 4 sixes and 14 boundaries.

Skipper Assad Vala and Sese Bau then guided the Barras on to bring in the 3/262 at stumps yesterday.

Despite the really good chase from the Barras, Scotland’s lead meant they have now leapfrogged their way into the 5th placing on the ICUP ladder while the Barras fell from 4th to 6th.

They will be meeting Hong Kong in a few months’ time for their final fixture of the ICUP.

For now, they will face Scotland again tomorrow for the round six of the World Cricket League fixture with hopes of redeeming themselves.
