The People’s Party has reaffirmed its support to Prime Minister, James Marape. Party Founder and Enga Governor, Sir Peter Ipatas, explained the party’s position saying that the party now stands ready to work with the new Prime Minister to bring about much-needed change.
He highlighted the fight against corruption and improving law and order as 2 key areas the party would focus on in the remainder of this parliamentary term.
In a media conference on June 4th, Peoples Party Leader and Jiwaka Governor, William Tongamp, announced several changes to the party make-up, with the party welcoming several new Members of Parliament to its ranks. Among them, Moresby North-East MP and former Housing Minister, John Kaupa.
As of the afternoon of June 4th, People’s Party had 12 MP’s. In the recently announced caretaker, Peoples Party has been rewarded with Esa’ala MP, Davis Steven, the caretaker Attorney General. This according to the Party is welcomed, and indicative of the party’s stance in fighting against corruption, and its support for improving law and Order.
