With much skepticism about the country’s falling economy, the Social Democratic Party is adamant that its economic policies can resuscitate the economy.
Party Leader and NCD Sitting Governor Powes Parkop speaking during the policies launching explained how these policies can be utilized to improve the economy.
Present at the Social Democratic Party’s economic policies launching were NCD Governor and Party leader Powes Parkop and SDP candidates Matilda Koma, Goilala Open, Lucas Neah, Kompiam-Ambum and Gima Kepi, Rigo Open.
Mr Parkop said the only way to resuscitate the economy is to introduce sound and prudent economic policies.
Parkop explained that there are two ways the Social Democratic Party will resuscitate the economy.
Firstly is to open limitations to foreign exchange, and also to bring LNG onshore and introducing LNG GST apart from the LNG Concession.
Secondly, servicing debts by the privatisation of State Own Enterprises, and secure interim assistance from the World Bank or International Mpnetary Fund (IMF).
Revenues obtained can be used to build infrastructure, encourage the SME sector, support Agriculture Special Economic Zones, and improve health and education.
Parkop said the Social Democratic Party is determined to be a substantive partner to the next coalition government to contribute economically to PNG.
