An open back food delivery truck belonging to Lamana Hotel overturned on route to APEC Haus where a conference was being held yesterday.
The truck rolled once, spilling all the food onto the staff in the vehicle and on the ground. The driver and two other staff trapped in the front seat were later rescued, fortunately ,no one was injured.
It was believed, the truck driver had no rest as he was working a tight shift the whole week.
Officers from the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary Mobile Squad Unit were the first to arrive at the scene. They helped the three staff who were in the front seat, one of whom was a woman. She was pulled out of the overturned delivery trucks window.
Scattered all over road side where containers and trays of fried chicken, pork, a variety of fruits and vegetables’ and soup that was supposed to be delivered to a nearby event.
Most of the hot soup and oil spilled onto the five men who were minding the food while it was being transported to the venue.
Eye witnesses said they were lucky not to have sustained more serious injuries. All of the staff received minor injuries, but only one man broke his nose and mouth when he jumped out of the vehicle.
