NRL: Penrith’s Cartwright carts away from alleged abortion controversy

While the Penrith Panthers made a not-so-brilliant season opener against the Dragons with a 43 – 10 defeat; Back Rower Bryce Cartwright graced the news headlines for all the wrong reasons.

The 22-year-old, with the help of a middle man, allegedly paid AU$50,000 and even came up with a contract for the ex-girlfriend to terminate her pregnancy, as well as keeping this story away from news hounds.

In a leaked text message, Cartwright said, “There is no way I’ll be at birth”.

This scandal comes just a week after the Back rower told Australia’s Channel 9 News, that his personal life couldn’t have been any better.

The 24-year-old ex-girlfriend claimed that their relationship started last August and little did she know, he had another partner as well.

After being told of her pregnancy, Cartwright refused responsibility and allegedly offered the disclosed run of money in exchange for an abortion on her part, and her silence.

He even provided a confidentiality agreement which she never signed.

The young woman, whose identity was not revealed, refused to comment as she is undergoing counselling.

Cartwright is said to be currently with his new girlfriend, and still maintains detachment towards his unborn child.
