NID Service In Progress for Morobe

Morobe’s Provincial Program Advisor for Community Development said the Department of National Planning and Monitoring has sorted out the delay of the NID registration process in Lae.

Kiun Kimbing said those who have submitted their registration forms and are still waiting, would collect their Birth Certificates by next week.

The delay was due to technical issues with the Civil and National Identification Registry office in Port Moresby.

Some residents from Lae and the other districts, who submitted their NID registration forms early this year, are still waiting for their NID cards and Birth Certificates.

The Provincial Program Advisor for Community Development in Morobe, Kiun Kimbing said, they would collect their Birth Certificates next week.

Kimbing said the National Civil and Identity Registry office in Port Moresby has sorted out the delay.

During our interview with the Provincial Registrar last month, he mentioned the areas causing the delay.

Keputong Geibob said there are currently seven officers working at the NID Registry Office.

The administration has requested the National Registry in Port Moresby to take on board more officers in order to cater for the population of Morobe.

Kimbing has called on the nine districts of Morobe to support the Provincial Registry office in registering residents of the districts.

The service of registration for Birth Certificates and NID cards is free to all members of the public by the National Registry Office.

Kimbing has called on the public to report cases concerning NID officers charging fees when conducting registrations.
