Madang Provincial Government has purchased 19 vehicles for LLG Presidents and public servants to use during official hours.
Madang Governor, Jim Kas said the purchasing of the vehicles is to reduce cost on hiring cars. Mr Kas is confident this move will save more money from the provincial purse.
Governor Kas said over K2 million has been spent on hire cars in the past 3 years, and there are still outstanding payments to service providers.
Restrictions given by Mr Kas are, dress codes must be official standard when using the vehicle, maintenance and upkeep of vehicle will be done by each President, alcohol and womanizing will not be tolerated.
The vehicle presentation to LLG presidents were witnessed by Usino Bundi MP, Anthon Yagama and Town Mayor, Joe Yama.
The vehicles were purchased under the blessing of Joint Provincial Planning Committee at a cost of K2 million.
The Provincial Executive Committee is also planning to put a ban on hiring of cars from service providers in the coming months.
