PNG swimming has seen the injection of fourteen new swimmers this year, and all of them have proven worthy of representing Papua New Guinea.
All fourteen participated in the Fina World Swimming Championships in Canada, early this month.
Pacific Games star and Commonwealth Games gold medallist Ryan Pini, Livingston Aika, Stanford Kawale, Ryan Maskelyne, Shanice Paraka, Ashley Seeto, and Sam Seghers were some of the swimmers who were at the forefront with their ever improving record timings.
This elite event attracted swimmers from 175 countries.
All fourteen obtain personal best times.
The highlight for PNG came in the fifth day of the tournament when the 4 by 50 medley team of Pini, Seeto, Kawale and Seghers saw a good open record of PNG time at 1 point four three, nine nine seconds. And, that was five seconds earlier than their 2014 record set.
