New Book on Taxation

To keep up with the changing tax law and practices, the Institute of Business Studies University has launched a new book called the ‘PNG Taxation’.

Author Joseph Palimi says, career users like accounting technicians and consultants will find this book resourceful as it aims to update readers about the income tax laws, and practices that have been changing consistently overtime.

The book focuses on the knowledge of tax administration, and practices in the country, specifically in the area of income tax.

According to Palimi, his vast experience in the field of accounting, has enabled him to compile the taxation book based on PNG Context.

The book is an addition to existing text books published by IBS University on Business Laws in PNG.

It’s hoped the book will enhance students’ learning in the field of taxation. Due to the enactment of new taxation or related legislations, the book also aims to update readers about the income tax laws that have been changing over time.

IBS Chancellor, Gabriel Pepson was the first recipient of the book.

Thomas Magiuli from IRC highlighted the importance of tax payer awareness across the country saying PNG’s tax laws are quiet challenging that it takes time for someone to understand it.

He further thanked the author and IBS University for their vision to compile this resourceful book.

Magiuli added that as a government agency, IRC was committed to helping citizens of PNG and announced to the students and staff of IBSU that IRC will put in place a Graduate Development Scheme and Sponsorship program for tertiary students
