The election petition case for the National Capital District seat is not over.
Today, the Supreme Court upheld the grounds raised by petitioner Michael Kandiu, after it was recently dismissed by the National Court. The case will now proceed to a full bench of the Supreme Court.
Petitioner Michael Kandiu, welcomed the decision of the one bench Supreme Court Judge, Collin Makail, to review his election petition.
Mr. Kandiu filed 37 grounds of review relating to bribery, undue influence, illegal practices, and errors and omissions. He says, he wants to set the record straight to ensure future elections are not tainted.
He appealed to the courts for fairness and justice. He maintained that the 2012 National General Elections was full of corrupt practices
The actual application of the review must be filed within 14 days for the case to proceed for a directions hearing on the 14th of April. Mr. Kandiu filed the election petition since September 2012, and is hoping for justice to prevail.
