Nawaeb District Funding Road Maintenance Story

Nawaeb District has allocated K50,000 through DSIP last year, to fund a plant machinery-training program with Commercial Training College and Department of Works in Lae.

Member for Nawaeb, Kennedy Wenge, said this is an initiative to increase human resources to develop the districts and Morobe Province.

19-year-old Ryan Fenangte is one of them who graduated today and is now qualified to operate an excavator.

Ryan Fenangte is 19 years old and grew up in Hobu community in Nawaeb District. He could not make it to grade 11 after finishing his grade 10 in 2014.

Ryan and his friends did not realise their potential when they were given the chance to enrol at the Commercial Training College in Lae to study plant machinery last year.

Ryan was part of 12 young men graduated with certificates today as plant machinery operators.

“I am happy I will contribute to my district in a positive way. We need roads in my district,” said Fenangte.
