National coaching conference upskill management and coaching

by Raphaella Kaore – EM TV, Port Moresby

The Papua New Guinea Olympic Committee (PNGOC) will be running a national coaching conference on the 9th of January next year.

Coaches and managers from all 28 sporting codes in the 2015 Pacific Games will be attending this clinic with the purpose to upskill local coaches and managers in preparation for the 2015 Pacific Games.

Today, EM TV caught up with Chef de Mission, Richard Kassman to get an update on the national coaching conference at the High Performance Training Centre. He explained the importance of the course; it will help build the knowledge and skills of coaches and managers in better understanding the psychological aspects of their athletes, enhancing their physiology status and recommending proper nutrition intake.

The program is also to upgrade the coaching skills of local coaches and managers so that they fully understand the exercises or activities they can provide their athletes with on the basis of science and physical coaching activities.

The PNGOC has already started hiring coaching managers and coaches from overseas. PNG athletes are taking on international standard training and coaching from Tom Frost and Aaron Alsop at the High Performance Training Centre.

The coaching clinic next year will help PNG’s coaches and managers from all 28 sporting codes to prepare for the 2015 Pacific Games.
